Cleveland man jailed for alleged aggravated assault and battery

Cleveland police have charged a man with aggravated assault and battery after an incident over the weekend that resulted in another person being hospitalized.

Nolan Davis of Cleveland was arrested after police responded to a call about a physical assault at Cloverdale Drive Saturday evening, March 26. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a male victim with significant injuries including lacerations to his body, says police chief Jeff Shoemaker.

First responders rendered aid and White County EMS transported the injured patient to the hospital. His name and condition have not been released.

Davis, who was also injured, was still at the scene when police arrived. Shoemaker says the victim knows him. Medics treated him on site.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit was called in to assist with the investigation. Officers obtained arrest warrants charging Davis with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

Davis was booked at the White County Detention Center where he remained in custody as of Monday morning, March 28.

The case remains under investigation.
