A former Lee Arrendale State Prison staffer has been sentenced to five years on probation.

Christopher Dionte Mayfield was sentenced in April under the First Offender Act. A Habersham County Grand Jury indicted the Toccoa man last year on charges he had sexual contact with an inmate, furnished the inmate with gifts, and, in so doing, violated his oath of office.

In a negotiated plea deal, prosecutors dropped two of the charges against him.

Mayfield pled guilty in Habersham County Superior Court to furnishing prohibited items to inmates. The Court sentenced him to five years probation and a $1,000 fine, records from the Mountain Judicial District Attorney’s Office show.
