The old Cornelia Ingles, as well as other empty storefronts in the Habersham Shopping Center, could be candidates in becoming the next Habersham County South Voting Precinct.

The Board of Elections and Voter Registration has expressed interest in the old Ingles space located in the Habersham County Shopping Center, next to the Belk, as well as other empty storefronts in that shopping center. While the old Ingles and surrounding storefront locations could be in the running for the next location of the precinct, a definitive location hasn’t been set, and the board is still weighing its options.

The elections board has looked at the old Ingles and other empty storefronts in the Habersham County Shopping Center in Cornelia, though they are still in very early stages of finding a permanent location for the south precinct. (Google Street View)

The Board of Elections and Voter Registration has been on the hunt for months for a new facility to host the Habersham County South Voting Precinct, ever since the south precinct was moved out of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia in September. The precinct is temporarily being held in the Cornelia Community House, but the board is hopeful that they will have a new location by early 2022.
