Dorothy Rose Decker Henslee, age 79, of Clarkesville, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021.
Born in Lavonia, Georgia, on April 11, 1942, to the late A.T. Decker and Sara Lee Kesler Decker. Mrs. Henslee moved from Franklin County in 1965 to the Atlanta area where she lived and worked for Sears for over 30 years before moving back to North Georgia about two years ago. She was a long-time, active member of Indian Creek Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, where she served on the Hospitality Committee and helped with Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Henslee enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, cooking, getting together, and spending time with family. She was a wonderful loved one and friend who always kept in touch with those around her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Emily Roberts; brother, Thomas Decker.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & Walt Goddard of Clermont and Laurie & Darin Boozer of Clarkesville; grandchildren Cal Anderson (Heather) of Hoschton, Courtney Nelson (Chris) of Fairview, Tennessee, April Connell (Ben) of Flowery Branch, Becca Thompson (Cody) of Jefferson and Katherine Latham (Taylor) of Peachtree Corners; great-grandchildren, Isla, Aubrey, Connor, Carlee, Clay, Sam, Eli, Branson and Maeve; sister, Doris Sapp of Lavonia; several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12 noon, Friday, May 28, 2021, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart, with Pastor Rob Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens in Lavonia, Georgia. Funeral services will be livestreamed on McGahee-Griffin and Stewart’s Facebook page for those not able to attend.
The family will receive friends from 10 am until the service hour on Friday at the funeral home.
