Severe weather sweeps across Northeast Georgia

A severe, fast-moving storm swept across parts of northern Georgia late Saturday, packing high winds and hail. This picture, taken by Kayla Liles, shows hail accumulations outside Leaf Grocery on GA 115 near the White/Habersham County line.

A fast-moving storm system blew into Northeast Georgia from the west Saturday night carrying high winds and hail.

Photos and video shared with Now Habersham show hail accumulations in the area of Highway 115 near the White/Habersham County line and in Clarkesville.

There have been no reports of serious damage.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the night with cloud-to-ground lightning and locally heavy rain possible.

Sunshine will return Sunday with highs in the 70s. The warming trend will continue into next week.
