Clarkesville, GA – The Piedmont College women’s golf program hosted a dual match with Oglethorpe University on Saturday afternoon at The Orchard Golf and Country Club in Clarkesville, Georgia honoring its’ only senior in Courtney Boggs.
Playing in her final event for the Green and Gold, Boggs would make the final walk off the course a memorable one winning a playoff with Elizabeth Burns after three holes with a sand save up and down on the 21st hole.
Both players finished with an 83 after 18 holes needing three more to decide the medalist at The Orchard. The finish only completed a stellar spring for the veteran Boggs as she also posted a top five finish at the Emmanuel Invitational in March before finishing in 8th place at the Golden Tigers Spring Invitational.
Boggs took All-Tournament honors at the Emmanuel Invitational and posted a 173 or better in four of the five tournaments she competed in prior to Saturday.
In the five events leading up to her Saturday Senior Day, Boggs has posted four finishes in the top 11 and two in the top five as she will leave a legacy to be remembered for Lady Lion golf.
Piedmont’s Malorie Smith posted a 90 on the day, 18-over the par-72 to finish 5th of the eight involved in the contest. Finishing 7th was Ashton Mamula who carded a 99 at the course finishing four strokes ahead of Oglethorpe’s Audrey Stadler.
The event wraps up the spring for the Piedmont College women’s golf program as the Lady Lions will jump back into action this coming fall.
