(Clarkesville) — North Georgia Technical College recently nominated American Woodmark of Toccoa for the 2019 Manufacturer of the Year in the small manufacturing category (less than 150 employees.)

The Toccoa plant manufactures cabinet components that are assembled in other American Woodmark locations and sold through major home improvement retailers, as well as directly to large building contractors. American Woodmark has been in operation for 31 years in Toccoa and supports the local economy with an $8 million annual payroll and a five year capital investment of over $15 million. Through the American Woodmark Foundation, they support the local school system and numerous non-profit organizations.

NGTC and representatives from American Woodmark were recognized for their nomination at the Governor’s Awards Luncheon for Manufacturing Appreciation Week April 18 at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta.

“Our long term and existing partnership with American Woodmark has been so important to our college,” says NGTC President Dr. Mark Ivester. “We are thankful for their continued strong support of our students and programs.”

“American Woodmark has provided stability to the northeast Georgia economy and their employees’ families for over 30 years,” says Vice President of Economic Development Keith Powell. “Their long term business success and commitment to making Stephens County a great place to work and live makes them a worthy nominee for Manufacturer of the Year.”
