The story begins at an orphange for girls in New York City where Annie and the rest of the orphans struggle with daily life under the ruthless, Miss Hannigan. The orphans, along with Annie have dreamed of the day when they would return home to live with their families or be adopted. After many attempted escapes from the orphanage, Annie finds her self back at the starting point when out of the blue, Grace Farrell arrives to invite an orphan to stay with Oliver Warbucks and his staff for Christmas.

Oliver Warbucks is a well known billionaire and takes Annie under his wing from the very start and a daddy-daughter bond begins. Annie carries a locket that was given to her by her parents and eventually grows fond of Warbucks but feels her family may still be looking for her. With this in mind, Daddy Warbucks helps Annie by offering a $50,000 reward to anyone who can prove to be Annie’s biological parents. During the search for her family, Annie is introduced to Rooster and Lily Hannigan who team alongside Miss Hannigan to portray Annie’s parents so that they can snatch the prize money and run away with her. Witness Annie as you’ve never seen her before at North Habersham Middle School and find out the entire story.

Production History

Annie was constructed by Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin and Thomas Meehan who had the creative idea of turning the “Little Orphan Annie” comic strip into a full-length Broadway musical. Annie originally opened at the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut where it first mesmerized audiences. The show later packed up and headed to Broadway at the late, Alvin Theatre, which is now the Neil Simon Theatre in April of 1977. The cast was led by Andrea McArdle who was placed in the title role, Reid Shelton(Daddy Warbucks), Dorothy Loudon (Miss Hannigan) and Sandy Faison (Grace Farrell).  Annie ran on Broadway for an astonishing 2,377 performances before it closed in 1983.
