Two North Georgia men are charged in connection with an investigation into alleged drug activity in Helen.
47-year-old Michael Shane Hayes of Dahlonega and 37-year-old Christopher Walden of Helen were arrested April 20. Helen Police and drug task force agents took the two into custody while executing a search warrant at Walden’s apartment.
Hayes is charged with possession of a schedule IV controlled substance (Tramadol) and possession of methamphetamine.
Walden is charged with possession of a schedule IV controlled substance (Tramadol) with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and distribution of methamphetamine.
Tramadol is an opioid pain medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain. The total street value of contraband seized is approximately $2000, according to officials.
Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) Special Agent in Charge, Mitchell Posey, says the investigation continues. More arrests are expected.
