TFS names Indians of the Week

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for the last two weeks.

September 25-30

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL
Eighth grader Bailey Aderholt of Eastanollee was named an Indian of the Week by middle school volleyball coach Tamara Griffis. “Bailey played three great matches in the Georgia Middle School tournament on Saturday,” Griffis said. “She led us to a runner-up spot and helped the team secure a place in the next round. She finished with 22 kills and 11 blocks. Everyone on the court can feel her spirit and enthusiasm.”
MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY
Eighth grader Tyler Popham of Demorest was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school tennis coach Lisa Wilcox.  “Tyler finished his season undefeated winning all seven matches he competed in,” Wilcox said. “Whether playing singles or doubles, he has come out on top. He tries hard and really loves the game. He has a great attitude toward his teammates and is a great encourager to the entire team.”
VARSITY GIRL
Senior Shanna Lewallen of Cornelia was named a varsity Indian of the Week. “Shanna is a young lady who consistently works hard in practice and capitalizes on the variables she is able to control,” said varsity volleyball head coach Brandy Corbett. “She does this both on and off the court. She is a great student, with tremendous character, and contributes positively to her team, classmates and the entire school community.”
VARSITY BOY
Sophomore Samuel Dunlap was selected as an Indian of the Week by varsity soccer coach Jonathan Roberts. “Samuel put the ‘net’ on his shoulders at the beginning of the season,” Roberts said. “He told the coaches he wanted to be dedicated and committed to goalkeeping for the remainder of his TFS soccer career. He has done an outstanding job in one of the most challenging positions on the field. Samuel is devoted to understanding and training for the position and takes his role as ‘senior’ goal keeper seriously. He is a team leader in focus and devotion to the sport.”

VARSITY GIRL
Senior Perry Gresham of Clareksville set a new school record of 20:59.1 while placing 23rd of 181 varsity runners at the Runner’s Fit Mountain Invite at Unicoi State Park in Helen. “Perry ran her best strategic race by conserving energy early, passing 18 others in the last few minutes of the race,” said Athletic Director Scott Neal.  “Perry, an influential team captain, is the backbone of the team; she is a role model of leadership, a caring team member whose pride, determination, and connectedness empowers those around her.”
VARSITY BOY
Junior Zac Smith of Long Boat Key, Florida and Clarkesville ran the 5k Unicoi State Park course in 18:36, a personal record, while placing 125th of 221 varsity harriers and running the No. 3 team time for the day.  “Zac’s consistent, determined and energetic training, coupled with his sincere desire to contribute to the life of the team, endears him to his peers,” said Athletic Director Scott Neal. “He demonstrates GREAT in his life, showing a mature combination of perspective, prowess, and possibility.”
MS BOY
Seventh-grader Colton Hicks of Clarkesville ran the 3k TFS Farm course in 12:34 to win the Tri-State Middle School Conference Cross Country Championship and lead his team to a perfect XC score and eight of the top ten placers. “His time moved him up to No. 23 on the esteemed TFS Farm Course MS Legacy List,” said Athletic Director Scott Neal. “Colton broke through a couple of weeks ago when he won the JV division at the Crows Lake Challenge.  That success amped his training and he revised his competition goals, which he achieved at the pinnacle of the season.”
MS GIRL
Sixth-grader Julianne Shirley of Clarkesville ran a 3k personal record of 13:28 to place fourth at the Tri-State Middle School Cross Country Chamionship held at the TFS Farm course.  “Her time advanced her to No. 16 on the famed course Legacy List and broke the TFS sixth grade record,” said Athletic Director Scott Neal. “Ever the positive teammate, Julianne is tanacious in training, a caring peer, and a formidable competitor.”
