Scammers “spoofing” HEMC phone number
Habersham EMC has been notified that some community members have received telephone calls from individuals trying to sell them personal alert systems or security devices.
“The callers are using technology to ‘spoof’ Habersham EMC’s phone number, so it shows up on the Caller ID. Residents should hang up at once and report the call to their local law enforcement. Do not give out any personal information,” advises Nicole Dover, HEMC Director of Marketing & Communications.
“PowerGuard Security personnel do not make cold calls to sell security systems or devices. We only call if the customer or potential customer has contacted us and requested that we do so.”
