Zelda Brooks(Knight) Ferguson, age 76 of Cornelia, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.
Born in Rosman, North Carolina on October 20, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Talmadge and Ella Mae Whitmire Brooks. After attending Western Carolina University for her freshman year, she married and moved to Georgia. She then continued her studies at Piedmont, graduating in 1966 with a degree in music.
She taught music in elementary and middle school for several years. In 1977, she opened the Nutrition Shoppe and was the owner/operator until she sold it, in 1992. She then became certified in massage therapy and had a private massage therapy practice, until her retirement. She was devoted to her family and friends and loved sharing laughter, babbling brooks, leaves in the fall and always, always, the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Surviving are her husband, Willard Ferguson of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Areatha & Robert Ketch of Clarkesville and Tami & Douglas Butts of Bogart; grandchildren, Ellawyn Ketch, Patrick Butts, George Ketch, Samuel Ketch and Rachel Butts.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Clarkesville.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
