The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one woman dead and seriously injured a teenager.
On October 28, at approximately 12:30 a.m., ACCPD Officers heard multiple gunshots while patrolling in the Jefferson Road area. At about the same time, ACCPD Communication Officers received a ‘shots fired’ call in the area of Kathwood Drive and Rolling Ridge Drive.
“Officers arrived at the 100 block of Rolling Ridge Drive, located two gunshot wound victims, and provided life-saving care to the victims,” says ACCPD Public Information Officer Geof Gilland.
EMS responded and transported the victims to a local hospital – a 17-year-old male from Athens had serious injuries, and a 20-year-old female from Athens was pronounced dead at the hospital.
