Charges are pending against a Clarkesville man in connection with a wreck on September 2 that sent him and two others to the hospital.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Sam Bell, 29, was attempting to turn left onto Alto-Mud Creek Road from GA-365 South when he failed to yield and pulled the Honda Accord he was driving into the path of a northbound Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.

Bell and his passenger, 30-year-old Brandon Baker of Demorest, were trapped inside the wreckage. Rescuers extricated them using the jaws of life. Both suffered serious but apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

The wreck also injured the pickup truck driver, 72-year-old Gregory Jucah of South Carolina. Habersham EMS transported all three by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

The wreck temporarily shut down both the north and southbound lanes of the highway near the accident site.
