Wreck Knocks Out Power in Clarkesville

Power has been restored to hundreds of customers in Clarkesville following an early morning wreck that damaged a power pole. The accident happened during the Wednesday morning school rush hour on Highway 441/West Louise Street near the Wilbanks Lumber Yard.

Georgia Power Area Manager Brent Edwards says a car hit and broke a power pole around 7:30 a.m. “Customers did not lose power when he hit the pole,” Edwards says, “but we had to have an outage to make repairs.”

Edwards say power to the area was cut off for about an hour as crews worked to replace the damaged pole. He says the outage affected between 400-500 customers on the south end of Clarkesville.
