Wreck downs power lines on Chase Road

Emergency crews responded to the scene on Chase Road near Walmart in Cornelia around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating an accident on Chase Road near Walmart in Cornelia. Few details are being released at this time but witnesses say the wreck apparently took out a power pole, causing power outages in several businesses around 12:30 Saturday morning.

Shoppers and late night diners at Walmart, Chick-Fil-A, Taco Bell and Captain D’s were left in the dark when the power went out following the wreck. Power was restored within 15 minutes.

Traffic along Chase Road had to be rerouted due to downed power lines.

Georgia Power crews, law enforcement, fire and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene. There is no official word yet on what caused the accident or if there were any injuries.
