Women’s soccer title run ends at Maryville in 4-0 loss in CCS semifinals

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Piedmont women’s soccer team saw the 2023 season come to a close Wednesday in a CCS Semifinal loss at Maryville 4-0.

Maryville was able to connect early on their third shot of the game as Delaney Muldoon arched one in from well outside the box for the eventual game winner.

The Scots capitalized with a late goal in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the break and doubled up Piedmont in the second half with two additional goals.

The Lions had seven shots in the game with two on frame with Elissa Lotter and Christina Sierra registering a shot on goal.

Piedmont ends the season with a 10-7-5 record after a trip to the CCS Semifinals.

TURNING POINT:
–The Scots saw a beauty of a goal scored in the fifth minute that proved to be the game winner.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
–Haylee Dornan made six saves in the contest.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
–Piedmont was outshot in the contest 25-7.
