The Piedmont women’s soccer team fought Covenant to a scoreless draw on a beautiful fall afternoon in Demorest.

As is usually the case when these two meet, there was not much separation between the Lions and the Scots, with neither side able to find the decisive goal.

Possession and the shot count was relatively even throughout, with Piedmont holding a slight edge in shots, 14-12.

However, the Lions held a larger edge (9-3) in shots on goal.

Open looks at the goal were tough to come by for both teams in the first half, and the contest went to the break 0-0.

The second half, though, saw a Piedmont surge midway through, as the Lions had two great chances back-to-back. First, Savannah Jerome slipped through, but her shot was saved by Covenant goalkeeper Lucy Sandhoff.

Peyton Gates also found a crease and had a good look, but her shot sailed just high, over the bar.

Piedmont held steady on the back line throughout, not surrendering a goal for the third consecutive conference contest.

Up next, the Lions will look to find another road victory, as they head to LaGrange for a road battle. Kickoff is scheduled for this Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.
