Greenville, S.C. – The Piedmont College women’s cross country team set a school record for the fastest team average with a 26:07.13, beating the previous school record by twenty seconds, at the Furman Classic on Saturday. The Lady Lions set the record by breaking a two year old time that was from this very same meet in 2013.
The Lady Lions’ finished as the 15th team overall out of 22 NCAA Division II, III and NAIA programs. Piedmont went head-to-head against fellow USA South school Covenant College with the Scots just passing the Lady Lions in the first USA South competition Piedmont has seen this season.
REESE BOWLES again finished as the top runner for the Lady Lions with a 25:13.89 and was closely followed by MACKENZIE DEVINE who ran a 25:45.05. The top five remained in the same order as the first race with Bowles leading the pack, followed by Devine, Duffy, Banks, and Whitlock.
