Women’s cross country finishes third at CCS championship

TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. – The Piedmont women’s cross country team placed third out of seven programs at the 2023 CCS Championship following sophomore Skyler Seeber’s third-place performance. Senior Jaycie Ponce also cracked the Top 10, crossing in 7th.

Seeber’s time of 24:52.9 placed her behind CCS Individual Champion Madison Stonestreet and CCS Rookie of the Year Muhorakeye Joyeuse while she was well ahead of the fourth-place finisher.

Jaycie Ponce was the only other Lady Lion to place in the Top 10, turning in a time of 26:34.5 for seventh place. Just outside the Top 10 in 11th was Hannah Marlowe. Coming off a PR performance in the prior meet, she crossed in 27:10.4.

Brhea Covington and Tanea Davis were the next two Lady Lions to cross. Covington recorded a 31:19.3 in 33rd place, while Davis crossed in 37th with a 32:31.4.

Bella Caccamo (34:28.7) and Victoria Drouin (39:04.2) rounded out the finishers for Piedmont.

Up next, Piedmont travels to Mount Berry, Ga. for the NCAA South Region Championships on Saturday, November 11.
