Officials have released the names of the couple that rescued a woman from a burning house near Batesville on Tuesday.
Patrick and Judy Innis are being credited with saving the woman’s life.
They reported the fire to Habersham 911 and pulled the woman to safety after finding her unresponsive, just inside the doorway of the house.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene at 2250 State Highway 255 they found the woman outside the burning house. Smoke and flames were showing on the exterior of the 2,000 square foot wood frame structure.
The fire spread to the attic. Firefighters from Habersham County, Lee Arrendale State Prison, and White County extinguished the flames.
Officials have not released the name of the woman injured in the fire. Officials say she remains in stable condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
“According to personnel on scene, their actions [Patrick and Judy Innis] more than likely saved the lady’s life, or at minimum, the outcome could have been much worse,” says Habersham Emergency Services Director Chad Black.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is working with Habersham County Fire investigators to determine what caused the fire.
