A woman was killed after she slid across an icy roadway in Athens earlier this week, according to police.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a single-vehicle accident in the area of Danielsville and Harve Mathis roads just after 4 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 22.
Police say the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, a 33-year-old female from Athens, was traveling on Danielsville Road when she hit a patch of ice. Her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, according to police.
Medical response arrived to render aid before the woman died on scene.
