The Georgia State Patrol has identified the woman killed in a single car wreck Tuesday in Baldwin as Marsha Dodd of Mount Airy.
The 57-year old Dodd was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima south on Duncan Bridge Road near Sunset Oaks Drive when she lost control of the car in a curve and ran off the roadway. TFC Aaron Church with Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa says Dodd’s car ran down an embankment and struck several trees before coming to a rest facing west off the roadway.
The accident was reported at 5:33 p.m. on January 10. Baldwin Police Chief Charles Webb says Dodd died at the scene. He says it’s not clear what caused her to lose control. There was no ice on the road near where the accident happened.
Icy roads have been a problem in Habersham County for the past several days due to extreme temperatures refreezing melting snow and ice left over from this past weekend’s winter storm.
Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire says Dodd died of injuries sustained in the accident. He adds, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
