A suspect is in jail charged with murdering a woman whose body was found on the ground outside a Gainesville apartment complex early Monday.
Gainesville police were called to Lanier Pointe Apartments at 2460 Spring Road on January 23 in reference to a death investigation. There, police found the body of Latasha Marie Smith.
During the investigation, police obtained malice murder and felony murder warrants for 23-year-old Diandre Andreus Dryden of Gainesville. They took him into custody at the Gainesville Police Department.
“The hardworking members of the Gainesville Police Department ensured a thorough and expeditious investigation was completed to bring justice in this case,” says Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Latasha Smith.”
Dryden is currently being held in the Hall County Jail. Police say the case remains open and active at this time. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Hall County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the case.
