Mountain City wreck involving tractor-trailer, cars injures three people

A three-vehicle wreck in Rabun County on Saturday seriously injured a Franklin, North Carolina woman. Two men were also injured in the accident.

Paramedics airlifted 78-year-old Jo Ann Beasely from the scene of the crash on GA-15/US 441 near Cathey Road in Mountain City. She was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) in Gainesville in serious condition.

State Troopers say a tractor-trailer rear-ended the Toyota Rav4 Beasely was a passenger in. Both vehicles were traveling in the left southbound lane. Troopers say the truck was following too closely. It struck the Rav4 when the driver slowed down to make a left turn. The impact caused the truck to jackknife, pushing the Rav4 into a Toyota Corolla in the northbound lane.

82-year-old Tommy Clark Beasely, also of Franklin, was driving the Rav4. EMS transported him and the driver of the Corolla, 30-year-old Rashad Kirksey of Canton, Ohio, to NGMC for treatment.

The driver of the truck, 68-year-old Ronnie Wood of Townville, South Carolina, was not injured.

The State Patrol says charges are pending.
