Stephen Tyler Williams has been named the next Chief Executive Officer of Habersham Medical Center. Williams currently serves as the hospital’s Vice-President for Business Development and Strategy. He will succeed Lynn Boggs who is retiring.
Williams has worked in various roles within Habersham Medical Center Administration since 2014 and has served in his current role for the past two years.
Williams has extensive experience in physician practice management as well as hospital operations and finance, according to a news release from the Hospital Authority. It states he also has “significant experience in Georgia’s rural health network including major grant initiatives.” The incoming CEO also was involved in the “negotiation, development, and execution of the current contracts with Northeast Georgia Healthcare System,” the Authority says.
Williams obtained a BA in Business from Georgia Southwestern State University and a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from Georgia Southern University. He is a member of the College of Healthcare Executives and a graduate of Leadership Georgia Hospital Association.
Boggs has served as interim CEO of HMC since October 2017. For the next two months, she and Williams will be transitioning responsibilities.
In announcing its selection of Williams as the next CEO, the Hospital Authority says it wishes to recognize Boggs “for her leadership through challenging times and wishes her well in her retirement.”
“We are thankful for Mr. William’s many contributions and reliable, steadfast work integrity for the past five years,” the boards says, “and look forward to working with him in his management of Habersham Medical Center in the years to come.”
Williams will relocate from Hiawassee to Habersham County. He will take over as CEO on July 6.
