William Todd Wiley

William Todd Wiley, age 60, of Cleveland, passed away Friday morning, February 16, 2024.

Born in Habersham County on January 11, 1964, Todd was the son of the late William B. “Fisher” and Dorothy Chastain Wiley. He was a 1982 graduate of Habersham Central High School, where he played football, and after graduation, he worked at Lee Arrendale State Prison. In 1989, Todd earned his insurance license and was an agent for Liberty National Insurance Company. Shortly later, Todd was hired as a sales representative for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company, now Woodmen Life. His desire to serve people in his community was the driving force in how Todd’s career was shaped. Annually he was recognized as a Super Star Elite agent, he later was promoted to Area Manager and lastly to Regional Manager of North Georgia for Woodmen Life. Todd was a member of the Woodmen Life family for over 33 years. Later in his career, he aspired to bring back personal, local, and community-minded banking to North Georgia through Apex Bank, where he was one of the founders and served on the Board of Directors. Todd was an avid golfer and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. Todd was a Master Mason and member of Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge #141 F.& A.M., Yaarab Shrine Temple, and Level Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Todd is preceded in death by brother Lee Wiley, father-in-law and mother-in-law Johnny and Donna LaCount, and brother-in-law Charles Irvin.

Survivors include his wife Kay LaCount Wiley of Cleveland, son, and daughter-in-law Eric and Heather Welborn of Cornelia, daughter and son-in-law Laura and Scott Brady of Mt. Airy, sister Dolores Wiley Irvin of Cornelia, grandchildren Christian Waters (fiancée Brice Andrews), Jessica Waters, Ty Loggins, Katie Welborn, Taylor Loggins and Hadley Welborn, great grandchildren Ava, Malia, Bella and Slater, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and innumerable friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 23, 2024, at Level Grove Baptist Church, with private interment following the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Todd’s memory be made to Level Grove Baptist Church to be used for the Christmas for Kids program, P.O. Box 416, Cornelia, GA 30531.
