William Jackson “Jackie” Crumley, 68, of Alto, passed away on May 13, 2024, after pulmonary complications following a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Jackie’s passionate love of life, music, storytelling, good food, and, most of all, sharing those things with his family and friends will leave a gigantic void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him best. Still, it is impossible to have known the man and not celebrate the time we were blessed to share with him. He was extremely proud of his family, took great pride in his home and farm, and enjoyed taking in the views of the mountains from off his back deck with Judy. Jackie Crumley was, is, and always will be a force of nature and spirit for those he touched. A pillar of support and the strongest ally anyone could hope for, he loved his family with an unmatched fierceness and a genuine willingness and desire to help those close to him with whatever was within his power to give. Although it is inadequate to sum up his vast life experience and legacy within a few words, he was a loving husband to his high school sweetheart, a hard-working man, a musician, a stargazer, a traveler, a helper, a farmer, a father, a comedian, a counselor, a confidant, a builder, an entrepreneur, a fixer, a storyteller and keeper of family legends, and an amazing grandfather. He will be greatly missed, but we ask his friends to help us celebrate his life and carry his spirit forward.
Jackie was born April 29th, 1956, to Travis and Gwendolyn Crumley in Gainesville, GA, and was a graduate of East Hall High School. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Wally. Jackie is survived by Judy, his wife of nearly 50 years, sister Wanda Crumley of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law Scott Crumley and Sarah Crumley of Atlanta, daughters and sons-in-law Kayla and JR Cox of Altoona, FL, and Lindsey and Matthew Vrahiotes of Alto. His legacy also lives on into the future through his eight grandchildren, Ezra, Elizabeth, Elijah, Jackson, Maddie, Piper, Leo, and Annabel.
