William Douglas “Billy” Dilworth

Mr. William Douglas “Billy” Dilworth, age 80, of Commerce, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Landmark Hospital in Athens.

Born October 4, 1934, in the Red Hill Community of Franklin County, he was the son of the Late B. Q. and Pearl (Davis) Dilworth.

He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and worked as a newspaper journalist and as a radio and television personality. He hosted the Billy Dilworth Show for more than 20 years. Mr. Dilworth was a member of Allens United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Joyce (Shirley) Dilworth and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Allen’s United Methodist Church, 15577 Highway 106, in the Red Hill community with Rev. Johnny Ray and Rev. Wilmer Ivester officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from at 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Elton Collins, Bill Anderson, Jerry Mote, James Miller, Yousef Mefleh, Randy Shirley, David Garrison, and Gus Arrendale.
