William “Bill” Kepler, age 89, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.
Mr. Kepler was born on August 20, 1930, in Bryan, Ohio to the late Chester Lee and Mildred Nihart Kepler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dona Kepler; and sisters, Mary Alice Myers, and Helen Forbes. Mr. Kepler was a member of the Melbern United Methodist Church in Melbern, Ohio. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a tool and die maker with Edgerton Forge and retired after 27 years of dedicated service. Bill was an auxiliary member of the Ohio State Patrol and a member of the American Legion, and the Mending Hearts Auxiliary.
Survivors include his loving wife of 10 years, Ruth Martin Kepler, of Alto; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Sue Hill and Chuck, Linda Warner and Steve, Margaret Cooley and Jon, all of Bryan, OH; sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Kepler and Mary, Steve Kepler and Debra, of Bryan OH; son, Richard M. Kepler, of Aurora, CO; step-daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Buddy Cantrell, of Alto, GA; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Carolyn Whitfield, of Alto, GA; Randy and Lori Whitfield, of Buford, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Richard L. and Sharon Kepler, of Bryan, OH; thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, thirteen step-great-grandchildren, ten step-great-great grandchildren; and also a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2020, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Clint Peterson and Mr. Hoyt Dodd officiating and military honors provided by the United States Army, VFW 7720, American Legion Post 84, Rabun DAV Chapter 15.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
