Local officials want the state to connect GA 400 in Lumpkin County to the Appalachian Parkway in White County.
Commissioners in both counties approved a resolution supporting the plan, according to WRWH Radio. The resolution calls on the State of Georgia and Department of Transportation to make the 16.2 mile extension a priority and to designate funds for the project.
The two counties agree this would provide a valuable EastWest connection opportunity for GDOT and would benefit tourism and local colleges.
