(Cleveland) – The White County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating a possible child molestation at a daycare center in Cleveland, so far, no evidence has been found to back up the allegations.
Captain Rick Kelley with the White County Sheriff’s Office advised in an email that, on October 15, the White County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible child molestation that may have occurred earlier in the day while the child was at daycare.
The complainant advised that her 3-year-old grandson stays at Small Wonders Academy on Westmoreland Road in White County. The child was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for a sexual assault exam.
White County Sheriff’s Office Investigators followed up with Small Wonders Academy the next day. The owners and staff were very cooperative with Investigators, according to officials. Investigators interviewed several staff members and some other people associated with Small Wonders Academy. Investigators spent a couple of days reviewing numerous hours of surveillance video from the daycare.
Kelley said the sexual assault exam did not show any obvious signs of trauma. The sexual assault kit has been submitted to the GBI crime lab for further testing.
According to Captain Kelley, at this point in the investigation, there is no evidence that any sexual assault occurred at Small Wonders Academy or by anyone associated with Small Wonders Academy.
The case will remain open pending the results of the sexual assault exam which usually takes several months.
