White County Sheriff warns about phone scam

(Cleveland)- White County Sheriff Neal Walden has a warning for county residents about a phone scam that is currently being conducted in the county. In this scam the caller advised that you have missed jury duty and you need to purchase a Green Dot money card to avoid going to jail.

Walden said the scammers use a number that looks like a local number and he advised don’t fall for this type of action and just hang up on the caller.

Walden said his office has been advised by several residents they have received these bogus calls.

The prepaid Green Dot cards has quickly become scammer’s tool of choice because they can be purchased at many stores.
