White County school officials cancel classes Monday, August 21st

(Cleveland)- As the solar eclipse time approaches, the  White County School System has made the decision to cancel all classes for this coming Monday (August 21st).

White County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeff Wilson said in an email,  due to anticipated major traffic issues and safety concerns related to the solar eclipse they have decided to cancel classes.

After talking with Public Safety officials they decided to take the action.  Wilson said, this day will be treated as an inclement weather day and the day will not need to be made up.  All students, staff, and teachers will be excused for the day.

School and system administrators will report to work or will be granted an annual leave day if they so desire. According to Wilson, student and staff safety is our first priority.
