White County Government announced today it will return to normal operations at many of its facilities on May 18. The county shut down public access to facilities in March due to COVID-19. Libraries and the Senior Center will remain closed.
White County will open access to facilities while following the governor’s guidance, a news release from the county states. However, the county also will continue to provide services via phone, email, internet, and mail as people are encouraged to practice social distancing and stay home when possible. Employees will be available by these methods on a daily basis during normal business hours, the release states.

Although the doors to many of White County’s public facilities will reopen, some restrictions will remain in place. People will not be allowed to enter the facilities if they are sick, have a fever, or have had contact with a sick person. People who are coughing or are showing signs of being sick will be asked to leave the facility and conduct their business by phone, internet, or mail, the news release states.
Locations such as the recreation department will take temperatures of everybody coming to the gymnasium, according to guidance issued by the state. That guidance is outlined in an executive order signed by Gov. Brian Kemp on May 12. It eases restrictions on most businesses and government operations but requires them to meet certain criteria to reopen.
