White County Public Safety releases annual report

White County Public Safety has released its annual report for 2021. The report contains statistical information on all four divisions of Public Safety: Animal Control, Fire Services, Emergency Management, and Emergency 9-1-1.

“Our team has worked hard this past year with each division completing major milestones in their efforts to provide services to county constituents, and visitors,” says White County Public Safety Director David Murphy.

The report shows that Fire Station 2 on Duncan Bridge Road answered the most calls during the year, with a total of 528, Station 4 on Westmoreland Road was second with 431 calls.

The 911-Central Communications Division is an integral part of the Office of Public Safety. E-911 provides communications for all of the county’s public safety divisions, as well as the Cleveland and Helen police and fire departments. In 2021, E-911 dispatchers received 95,973 calls.

The total intake by animal control, including strays and owner surrenders, increased from 1,132 in 2020 to 1,469 in 2021.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, In 2021, CERT members logged 3,105 hours of volunteer work and training.
