White County Public Safety: positive rabies alert

The White County Public Safety has issued a warning of a positive rabies test from a raccoon.

A raccoon made contact with two dogs in the Woodlawn Drive area of White County. The raccoon was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab & Virology Section in Decatur, Georgia. The raccoon tested positive for rabies, and the White County Environmental Health Agency was notified on Thursday, November 7, 2024. This is the second confirmed case of rabies in White County in 2024.

Signs will be posted in the area where the rabid raccoon was located.
