White County Public Safety addresses “comfort station” concerns

(Cleveland)- There has been some “Facebook chatter “ concerning the lack of warming shelters in White County. In response, White County Public Safety Director David Murphy issued an email statement Tuesday afternoon.

The statement reads “White County Emergency Management has a plan for the activation of Comfort Stations in the event of subfreezing cold or extreme heat conditions. We partner with local churches in providing these resources once a need has been identified and requested to our agency. As of today(Tuesday), no requests for assistance have been made to our office.”

Murphy said If anyone needs assistance, you should contact the EMA office at 706-865-9500 Non-Emergency Dispatch after hours at 706-865-0911.
