Gainesville and Hall County students will be on an alternating day schedule through at least the end of the week.

The school systems moved students online after the holidays due to a significant surge in COVID-19 cases. Many of the systems were unable to adequately staff schools due to viral outbreaks among faculty and staff.

Hall and Rabun county school superintendents both cited the alarming post-holiday rise in hospital admissions as another reason they chose to delay in-person learning, hoping the delay would help slow the spread.

White County administrators are preparing for the students’ return by reminding them to observe the three Ws – wear your mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance.

Habersham Schools are scheduled to resume in-person learning on Jan. 25.
