White County man’s flood pics go viral

Nate Welborn was on his way to work Wednesday when he captured images of something he’d never seen before, and it ended up going viral.

Welborn tells Now Habersham he was leaving the town of Helen around 3:30 a.m. on May 30th when he discovered the streets were flooded.  “I was surprised,” he says of the flooding that resulted when the Chattahoochee River overran its banks. “I trout fish that river a lot.”

He says, “The last time I seen the river that high was when hurricane Katrina came through.”

Apparently, this go-round was the first time many people had seen that type of flooding in Helen. Welborn says his photos, seen below, have so far received 17,000 shares and over 600 likes.
