White County man arrested on child pornography charges

Billy Rider

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has charged a White County man with six counts of sexual exploitation of children for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Authorities arrested 44-year-old Billy Rider on Tuesday, September 1, after executing a search warrant at his home, according to a press release from the GBI.

The GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit (CEACC) began investigating Rider after receiving a tip about his internet activity from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The information NCMEC provided was “related to the online sharing of child pornography by Rider via the internet,” the release states.

Agents with the GBI’s Cleveland Field Office, Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), and Cleveland police officers helped execute the search warrant.

Rider was booked into the White County Jail.

This investigation is part of the ongoing effort by the GBI’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, to identify those involved in the child pornography trade.

Anyone with information about other cases of child exploitation is asked to contact the CEACC at 404-270-8870.
