A suspect was recently arrested in connection with a string of break-ins at local schools in White County, according to the White County Sheriff’s Office.
Christopher James Crocker, 30, was apprehended without incident by White County Sheriff’s Office investigators in Doraville on Tuesday.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incidents began on Feb. 23 at 1 a.m. when an individual, dressed in camouflage clothing, gloves and a black mask allegedly broke into the White County High School Sports Complex concession stand.
The suspect then traveled to Tesnatee Gap Elementary School, where police say he unlawfully entered the cafeteria office and stole around $30 in cash.
The White County Sheriff’s Office was notified the following morning on Feb. 24 by school faculty, according to police. Deputies immediately responded, cleared the school and reviewed security footage, which revealed the suspect was allegedly riding a blue and black bicycle.
Authorities say investigators quickly canvassed the area and found a bicycle matching the description in a yard near the schools. After interviewing the homeowner, they secured a search warrant, which allegedly led to the discovery of evidence linking the suspect to the crimes.
Arrest warrants were issued for Crocker on Tuesday, Feb. 25. The suspect is now facing multiple charges including: two counts of burglary in the second degree and two counts of criminal damage to property
Crocker is currently being held in the White County Jail.
