The White County Board of Commissioners has expressed a desire to proceed with the construction of a new public library. On Monday, June 2, the board agreed to have BCA Studios move forward with completing the design phase of the Library Construction Project.
After the design plans are completed, the project’s construction manager, Charles Black Construction in Cleveland, can provide cost estimates for the new building.
The county has already received some grant funding for the project, and it is expected to work with state and federal legislators to obtain additional funding to complete the library as soon as possible.
The community push for a new public library began in earnest in 2021, when the library’s fundraising committee committed to raising $150,000 toward the project.
