Law enforcement and school officials are investigating another social media threat against a White County school.
In a Monday morning email sent to White County High School parents and guardians, Scott Justus, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, said it was brought to their attention on Sunday evening, January 29, that a video was posted on Snapchat making a threat toward the high school.
The school system followed safety protocols, and “the sheriff’s office was notified immediately and began an investigation,” Justus said. He adds that, while the investigation continues, no credible threat has been determined.
The Snapchat video contained a toy Lego gun, and the original source of the video was identified.
“Our priority is to ensure the safety of our students and staff while keeping all parties informed,” said Justus. He added, the school continues to operate on a regular schedule, and law enforcement is available if needed.
Earlier this month, law enforcement and school officials investigated a report of a social media threat at White County Middle School. Investigators determined the threat was a hoax. They identified a juvenile suspect and said at the time that charges were pending.
