A White County Sheriff’s K9 helped deputies nab a suspected meth trafficker during a recent traffic stop, says Sheriff Rick Kelley.

The stop took place around 9 p.m. on August 26, near Long Mountain Road on Highway 115 West. A deputy stopped the vehicle for an obstructed tag and window tint, and K9 Jelly was deployed to sniff the vehicle.

Jelly alerted her handler to the presence of drugs and a probable cause search was conducted, says Kelley. The search turned up 30 ounces of methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities arrested 59-year-old William Ausbrooks of Stone Mountain and charged him with trafficking methamphetamine.

As of August 28, Ausbrooks remained in the White County Detention Center.
