(Cleveland)- A White County home received damage Monday afternoon as a result of a fire in an outbuilding near the home.
White County Public Safety Director David Murphy advised in an email, around 3:30 PM White County Fire Services, with automatic aid from the City of Cleveland, responded to the report of a home on New Bridge Road that had an outbuilding that was possibly hit by lightning.
According to Murphy the outbuilding was about 15 feet from the main structure, with a 250 gallon propane tank close to the outbuilding. Murphy said, upon arrival of fire units personnel found the outbuilding heavily involved with fire with radiant heat and fire damage to the home and flames were spreading.
Firefighters deployed hose lines between the building and the home, while a team made an interior attack on the home.
Murphy said the fire was quickly extinguished and the State Fire Marshall was called to investigate the exact cause. The home was equipped with working smoke alarms which Murphy said, did alert the family.
The Red Cross was called to assist the occupants of the home. No injuries were reported.
