(Cleveland)- As concern continues to grow across the country about the coronavirus, White County officials met Thursday to review the local situation and discuss plans for the future.
School, public safety and other officials indicated their biggest challenge they have is dealing with misinformation. Many pointed to social media as the biggest contributor.
Everything is under control in the county, each department; schools, law enforcement, medical all have plans to deal with any situation that arises.
White County Health Department Nurse Manager Cindy King said this group is working on one goal “this is an all-hazards plan that each segment has certainly kept updated and we feel confident about protecting our community.”
White County School Superintendent Dr. Laurie Burkett said they post the latest information about the school situation on the school’s website https://www.white.k12.ga.us/home.
Dr. Burkett said there are no confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the district. However, we are continuing to implement proactive measures to minimize risk to students, employees, and families relating to the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
White County Public Safety Director David Murphy and his staff are working with all government agencies, health, faith-based groups and the media providing the latest information on the situation.
Murphy said the group will be meeting every two weeks to reassess the local situation.
