(Cleveland)- The White County Board of Commissioners has decided on who they want to replace retiring County Manager Mike Melton. Melton, who has been with the county since 2012, announced he would be retiring at the end of April.
The commissioners have been working since late January interviewing applicants for the job. Last Thursday the commissioners in a called meeting selected a single finalist for the position – Jason Lee Cobb, who is currently City Manager in Eastman, Georgia.
Following the required 14 day waiting period the commissioners will make the final decision during a called meeting on March 30.
Cobb studied Management at Georgia College & State University and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Valdosta State University. Jason has been in government services since 2010 including time as a Community Development Planner for the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission. He also has prior experience in manufacturing management and retail.
Cobb is married with two daughters.
