The White County Board of Commissioners has awarded a contract to renovate two county fire stations.
Station 6 on Highway 129, north of Cleveland, and Station 4 on Westmoreland Road are being renovated to accommodate 24-hour personnel, both male and female.
Public Safety Director David Murphy said they received four bids on the two projects. Dream Garage Builders’ bid was the lowest, at $128,593.94.
Three other bids were submitted, ranging from $149,173 to $735,000.
Brian Cohen of Dream Garage Builders is a White County resident. The business specializes in custom garage buildings, renovation, and repair.
Director Murphy said they hope to begin work on these two projects as soon as possible and have the work completed in three to four months.
The funding for this work will come from SPLOST taxes.
