(Cleveland) – White County Cannery, located on the White County Middle School campus, is expected to be open for this year’s canning season.
Last year the White County Board of Education approved $100,000 to correct some safety concerns and get the facility operational again.
Last night during the White County Board of Education meeting Assistant School Superintendent Scott Justus said repairs and updates at the cannery are about 75 percent complete. Justus said they have done some boiler work, replaced some pipes and reorganized the area, “ just the inspection really is what we are waiting on at this point, and I think that is supposed to be scheduled in the next week or two, “ commented Justus.
An opening date for the cannery has not been set. but Justus said they look to have that project completed by the time canning season starts this year.
